Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled “Pay Attention to Your Grip” and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/pay-attention-to-your-grip/.

I kind of feel like a gas pedal is a placebo. I don’t use a thumbs forward grip, I use a thumbs up grip. For me thumbs play very little part in my grip. My thumb “drumsticks” sure, but that’s all part of holding the grip. That’s where controlling the gun and getting back on target come from. But that’s me. There seems to be infinite ways to grip a gun and whatever works, works. The "Gas Pedal" keeps the thumbs pointed down range and not just an appendage it really controls getting the gun under control and back on target.

Hi,
Good article about grip. It covered all the bases and even mentioned the issues some of us older shooters may have in common. Yes, @SimonRL, we each have to basically learn all the techniques and find what works best for us, keep those techniques and practice them.
That said, I think all of it is important, stance, grip, sight picture, and trigger press. This guy at Apex stresses that sights and trigger are most important. He's got a pretty interesting demonstration. I'm sure you've seen it.
Standing on one foot, using weak hand, holding pistol upside down with ring finger and thumb, pinky on the trigger, still does pretty good at 65 feet. I don't think I'll be practicing like that.

Hi,
Interesting. Do you think wearing a garlic necklace would improve my shooting?

Hence my wry smile when people say I suck.

I agree with most of the article. I know for a fact that as you get older, especially if you have had surgery on the shooting hand accuracy suffers. Don't think it will ever improve to before surgery results.
