Range Day! 13 Jan 26 - Part 2 - Beretta PX4 Compact (LTT)

Lab4Us

Professional
After finishing up with the WC SFX9 with optic, it was time to break out the IRONS! I’ve had this Beretta PX4 Compact (LTT) since August of 24, purchased directly from Langdon Technologies with all upgrades except an optic cut. This is one of two automatics I have with iron sights. Also have two J-Frames with irons, so haven’t completely given up on them (irons).

100 rounds of Winchester NATO 124g FMJ, 1200 FPS at muzzle.

Nothing to zero here and already knew sights were accurate, so straight to…TACTICAL DUDE!

5 rounds each shoulder, slow fire at 3 yards - total 10
10 rounds just above center mass at 5 yards, fast fire as soon as on target - total 10
10 rounds just above center mass at 7 yards, fast fire as soon as on target - total 10
5 rounds just above center mass, slow fire at 15 yards - total 5
Five strings of 2 rounds to just above center mass, 1 round to the head at 3 yards, fast fire as soon as on target - total 15

This was after the first three stages and before moving to 15 yards, as I was quite sure I’d miss those - if I could even see sight picture. The center shots here were a bit different fast firing with irons than an RDS, but seems to have gotten the job done. REALLY can’t complain about the three yard should shots, especially the five in the dude’s left shoulder!

Here is how he looked after the 5 rounds at 15 yards were added. I almost fell over when I saw all five were hits - and effective at that!

And here is the DUDE, after the course of fire was over. I cannot believe I pulled that round high 😞. I’ll maintain it’s because I was so excited I hit 5 rounds at 15 yards - WITH IRONS!

Still had 50 rounds left to run through, so decided to just use the same Tactical Dude Target, but speed things up along the way. If someone had told me I could put 5 more rounds into the hole in Tactical Dude’s left shoulder, I’d have told him they were crazy. And then, even speeding up, still hit 5 more at 15 yards, though one was a collar bone and one a scapula shot. But again, seemed to get the job done.

This little PX4 will never leave my collection, that’s for sure. AND, I see ZERO reason to have an optic on it!

It was a GREAT range day, all the way around, both with this and the Wilson Combat SFX9 used in part 1 of these two Range Day reports. Zero malfunctions, I was the only one on my side of the range my entire visit (always love that), and both guns a breeze to clean.

Next week will be REVOLVER (x 2) DAY!

Nice work, need a crotch shot in there….😬

Nice. I think the PX4 is a massively underrated gun. I had a full-size in .45 and it’s a great shooter. Did the conversion to a G model with a deco let and got rid of the Ginsu safety.
