Another week, another couple of hundred rounds down range in pursuit of perfection…no, wait, that’s Glock…hmmm pursuit of competence!
Today it was time to zero in the Trijicon RMR HD I added to the Staccato HD 3.6, run some rounds through my summer carry that arrived yesterday before I add the EPS Carry (gun is FN Reflex MRD), and a round for each gun vs Tactical Dude to complete the session.
First up was zeroing in the Staccato w/RMR HD. American Eagle 124g FMJ, which matches the weight/FPS on the 124g HST I use for carry.
Ran a double bullseye target out to 7 yards and did some WAG measurements/adjustments along the way, using a dime
, to get it where I wanted it and then put a total of 100 rounds through it. Thought I was pretty successful.
Following that, I ran 100 rounds through my newly acquired FN Reflex MRD, which will be my primary summer carry, to break it in a bit and check function before mounting Holosun EPS Carry. 50 rounds of American Eagle 124g FMJ and 50 rounds of Winchester NATO 124g FMJ, 1200 fps. So this was all with irons at 7yds…and have I been spoiled recoil and return to target with all my heavy guns - this thing was jumping all over until I made a concerted effort grip it tightly. Not bad, but will look much better after RDS added.
Also convenient this double bullseye target is on the reverse of Tactical Dude so I can just grab same type of target.
So following those “warm-up”, it was time for quality companionship with TACTICAL DUDE! First up was the Staccato HD 3.6/RMR HD combo and the usual distances/firing styles (slow fire/fast as target acquired). This target was before the 15 yd x 5 round slow fire and 3 yd five strings of 2 to center, 1 to head.
And this was same target after the 15 yd and 3 yd finish.
Got out the FN Reflex MRD (sorry, forgot to take picture - next time). Shot this one with 50 rounds of Winchester NATO 124g FMJ. Same as above, this next target was before the 15 yd x 5 round slow fire and 3 yd five strings of 2 to center, 1 to head.
And this was after drill complete. Definitely going to need to do some serious hands on with this light micro to tighten up my hits/groups. It is a hammer fired SAO, but as I mentioned above, quite the little powerhouse. I’ll get there. The EPS Carry will help a lot too - I hate trying to aim irons after the first couple of shots when I can no longer focus properly. Had a great time, as always.
