Not really a review per se, just my ever so humble unsolicited opinion
. It was another warm muggy day, so I knew it was going to be that way in the pistol range. I brought my new VP9A1 K and the 509. As the weather gets cooler I'll go back to bringing more, but right now, by the end of running two I am sweating like a rented mule and my glasses are fogging up. Gets a little frustrating.
Anyway, first up was the HK. I was excited to shoot it. I decided to start with a mag loaded with Federal AE 115gr, because I have some in the safe I want to get rid of. My HKs at home eat it up no problem, so I wanted to see how this one ran with it. Well, it didn't.
I tried twice with FTF each time. FINE. Whatever. So I unloaded that mag and loaded it with Blazer Brass 124.
The first target at 10 yards. Not too shabby I suppose. The trigger felt great, as I expected. I had swapped out the back strap and side panels and the gun felt really good in my hands. It shot pretty flat, and I'd say it's very accurate...more accurate than me
.
Next up was the 509. I put some gun sight paint on the front sight so it would be easier for me to see and helped quite a bit. I ran another target to 10 yards and it came back like this.
That was fun. I decided to try 15 yards with another target.
That was fun too, but you can tell I'm getting tired. Not as good as at 10, but I'll take it.
I had some 124gr left over so I decided to take the HK out one more time and put my freebie target (members get a free target every visit) out to 15 yards.
Meh, I was getting fogged up by now, and frustrated, so I just aimed and fired. It was fun though.
As I was packing up my gear, the RSO came over and asked me which VP9 that was. Seems he has a heck of a collection of them and we talked VP9s for a good 10 minutes before he broke it off to sweep up the brass. Popular guns, they are..
Well, that was it. I'm pretty sure the weather will be cooler next time I head there. The range will be closed next Friday and Saturday for a gun show, and we'll be well into September by then. I should have more magazines for the VP9A1 by then. Until next time...
