Hey gang,
The piano player and I had planned to go to the range after church yesterday but he had something came up. We'll have to plan another day. I stopped by on my way home just for a quick 100 rounds to practice more with my two optics pistols. It was a standard practice session at 10 yards with the Mod3 and Echelon.
The range was busier than usual for a Sunday afternoon but I managed to get my favorite lane.
I started with the Echelon 4.5F Comp, 20 hits at the head card. Shooting pretty quickly, I managed to pull it up onto the actual card the last few rounds.
I patched up the head and put on the "aim small, miss small" reactive circle. I slowed down just a little and did a little better, just one hit low.
Then I put 20 rounds on the center card and managed to start a ragged hole.
Still, a few hits low off the card but doing damage. I think next time I'll put this pistol on a rest to check my zero, now that a few hundred rounds have been through it since installing the new optic. But it's probably me. Here's the whole silhouette target, 10 rounds at the head and 20 rounds at the center.
I can't wait to practice some more!
Anyway, moving on to the Mod3. I went blazing away for this first 10-shot string. It's just meh.
I noticed the optic on this XD9 Mod3 was a little loose. Drat. I borrowed a tool from the counter just to tighten up the screws a little. I torqued it properly after I got home. But the next target was a little better.
Still trying to keep up the pace, target #3 got a little tighter.
For target #4 I put 20 rounds on the 8" reactive circle. I think if I'd slowed down a little it may have been more impressive. I was pretty close.
That's it, just 50 rounds through each. I'll probably get back out later this week for more practice. But now the range is getting more busy and it's time for me to forage for lunch.
It warmed up a bit today so there's hardly any snow left. I didn't even get to shovel my driveway, it melted so fast. Oh well.
I think I'll check the zero on the Mod3 optic too. It seems to be shooting right fairly consistently. That's unusual for me.
