Looks like it might be on the move again. Would really be appropriate to happen during the 250th anniversary. Here's a link to an article that might be worth reading.

It probably won't come up for any vote until after the midterms, so it's extremely important to get out the vote. Generally speaking the conservatives are more apt to vote for it than liberals, but the real issue is to get those out who are pro 2nd Amd. We, the pro 2nd folks have seen considerable progress over the years, and it's not likely we'll see much more without maintaining a majority in both houses for the next 2 years.

The fly in the ointment is going to be diverse, inconsistent licensing and training requirements from one state to another. A state that has stringent training and licensing requirements will resist having licensees from other states that have no background or training requirement carrying a gun in their jurisdiction. Blue state politicians will be foaming at he mouth.

States that have constitutional carry with no licensing requirement will have to implement a licensing system in order to participate.

One logical answer is to have a federal licensing system with homogenous requirements. I think that has a snowball's chance on the sun. Plus I don't think any of us want any more federal administration of firearm possession and use.

However, we have done this before. The model could be the HR218, or Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act, enacted under the Bush administration post 9/11, which authorizes serving and former LEO's to carry in all states and territories. The impetus was fear of terrorism in the U.S. was The more trained good guys with guns, the better was the thinking. There are ID issuance and annual training and qualification requirements in HR218.

One Supreme Court decision could guarantee national reciprocity or constitutional carry, but the Unicorns will return first.

At this point Florida has reciprocity agreements with 38 states. I think that is the most realistic approach with the understanding that some states will simply not participate.

It is for sure a political sticky wicket

I would be nice to have that passed but there are states that in today's world I would never enter. Years ago when I had to pick up a wanted man in another state and when I arrived they stated I would have to leave my firearm in the custody of a local department and would not be able to have it on my person. I called my department and I was told to come home and leave the person in there care and they could deliver him to our jurisdiction and I did.

Hi,

Was this in LA County? It seems each county sheriff makes up their own policy when it comes to 2A. San Bernardino County Sheriff was very 2A friendly and helped as many law abiding citizens as possible get their CCW. Other counties, not so much. I know a prisoner transfer is a different situation, but I was curious about the mindset you encountered. CA has no reciprocity that I know of. I had to give back my CCW when I left the state.

This was over 50 years ago.

Fingers crossed but Id love to see a 10 amendment case (full faith and credit clause); basically if one state issues a drivers license or marriage license or or or, its expected to be acknowledged and accepted in every other state. If you are married in Maine, youre still married when you visit the Moonlight Bunny Rach in Nevada....

Not much of a big deal for me anymore since I don't travel much outside the states surrounding mine anymore, and mine & they all have Constitutional Carry.
And last time I checked, the Constitution is good nationwide! Too much picking and choosing what sections are for different states.

When I was still at the department, the rules were the same across the country.

Except for the Second Amendment...
