Russian jets at it again.

I think a major piece here that is missing and is quite controversial is encouraging the Japanese to amend their constitution eliminate pacifism, and get them on the path of to remilitarization. That would put both Russia and China on check.

Japan is already on the path to pump up their military considering recent events.

What I understand is that they have only reinterpreted article 9 of their constitution to, “allow the military to operate overseas for "collective self-defense" for allies.”
what can be done additionally in the region? Seems like there is opportunity there to add more pressure to Russia, china and nk?

Japan has been investing in building up their military (Naval, Airforce, Land-forces & Air-defenses) for several years due to their conclusion that their country is at risk from China & NK, and the increased Russkie air activity.

Japan has bought a ton of Tomahawk cruise missiles from the US, and has partnered for years with the US in the development and production of SM-6 missiles for both countries.

Right now Japan has sent aircraft overseas to train with the US, Canada & NATO.

Australia has selected a Japanese frigate for their navy. Japan is building advance & fielding advanced submarines.

Japan is partnering with the UK & Italy in development of a 5th Gen fighter.

By doing all theses plus more that increases deterrence to/puts pressure on China, Russia & NK to behave.

Methinks that a simple statement that zero intrusions will be tolerated and any aircraft entering NATO airspace will be either (1) forced to land or (2) shot down depending upon the pilots actions. Unmanned, shoot down period. Then DO IT. Uncle Vlad likes to be a tough guy, but even he really doesn’t want NATO going to war with him. He’s got his hands full with Ukraine (albeit with NATO supplies). NATO, even w/o the US, would be a tough nut to crack. Let’s face it, without nukes Russia is basically a second rate power. Yes, Vlad has nukes, but so do France and the UK, not as many, but more than enough to do the job if needed. The Russian’s are just poking the bear, but they really don’t want fight him.

So, its like being married😉

When I was stationed in Alaska they used to cross into our airspace all the time. We used to launch a couple alert F-15's at them We would fly up to them and they would wave at us and we would escort them out of our airspace.. Its a game.
they used to fly bears over our carrier battle group all the time
the carrier would launch a few tomcats and we got some high speed boom boom fly bys
russia loves some games until one goes splash.
they are saber rattling, knowing full well so many are against them
i hate to say it, but ukraine and russia need to be both put in a time out box

Had we not ignorantly taken Ukraine's Nuclear Arsenal and sign an agreement with them that if they were attacked, that we would help them, we wouldn't be in this situation.
That's not what happened. Ukraine had about 170 ICBMs and about 1700 warheads on its soil but never had operational control over them. I.e., Ukraine never had its own nukes. Under a 1994 agreement, all of the weaponry was returned to Russia but many don't know Ukraine retained a portion of reactor technology and the knowledge base to roll their own. In the late aughts they threatened in a diplomatic way, to start a homegrown program but were talked down from this.

and...we the gov pledged to help them grow...clinton, bush and barry
yet we left them high and dry more than once
i spent a bit of time there in the navy helping sort stuff out
yes they are fraught with corruption, as is the entire region.
but us foreign policy sometimes just cant seem to stay the course more than a year.
they both need a time out and the world needs to treat them as such.. its past time to be done killing for killings sake

I remember reading, during the late Cold War, that Soviet aircraft would make a high speed run towards NATO, forcing our aircraft to respond, then turn away, right at the border. Supposedly, the USAF decided to do the same to the Soviets, except during bad weather over the Warsaw Pact. The Soviet aircraft had little computer ability in bad weather and a number crashed. A few times like that and the Soviets stopped their games…Semper Fi
