rv gargage reload room dog palace cave etc etc

powerboatr

Professional
what it looked like in 06
then we closed it in 2018 to create a huge space for bus, loft storage etc and it sort of evolved to a jack of all trades area
then in may we added another loft section and converted old loft to a small room to transition into big house second floor
new room is finally ready for flooring...we are old and slow but its getting there, stair rails and all that soon as well
neat part is ALL the wood, ceiling, walls , trim etc after stained was hand rubbed with bees wax, vice poly or some other coating
so the wood has a soft feel to it and dust does not stick
the blue color is water based stain .
wife did all the staining, i had the fun part of hand applying the bees wax, on wax off finally used a car buffer on ceiling to get it buffed in

i wish i could show more, but dont want to bog site down with pictures :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
well maybe a few more
my wife and i have done close to 80% of all the work, we had a guy build the base structure and we did all the inerds and refits
work in progress, no set schedule and do what we can as the old bones allow. some days much get done and others not so much
but with the new stairs i got buns of steel and beat up ugly knees that complain after 5 trips up and back down
:ROFLMAO: the bus feels more nested now, everything is set so its parked and can open up and not hit anything.
now the reload area is under the landing....but at least near the ac

I got married late in life, so I was without adult supervision for decades. One time when I was having a house built in the country one of my married friends that lived vicariously thru my exploits tried to convince me instead of a house, what I needed was a insulated garage with RV Hookups. Then buy an old RV to live in inside the garage! Brilliant. And when one went on vacation, one was already packed. I spent WAY more time considering this project and drawing plans than I should have. In the end, I chickened out and built the house.

Eric
well sir
we have done that exactly
the rv is like the super suite
we tend to spend more time in it than the rest of the house
great kitchen, big bed, big shower etc
the stairs in the big house are steep so the new ones make life easier to get up to the main master.. we are pushing to live more there than in the bus
but yes bus can be ready to go in about an hour,
we also made the whole shell very well insulated and with one 18k btu and one 24k btu units ( mini splits) we keep the whole shell at 72 in summer and about 65 in winter
the big house has a smaller kitchen, bath and dining area, with laundry etc
it was designed to be home base to do maintenance after trips.. but we are getting older and shorter trips so its being updated to reflect the age of our bodies
its really perfect for us
people outside have no idea just how massive it is inside and how well its fitted out.
as a sailor with lots of long sea time, its sort of reflective to being on board a ship
every thing has a place, mostly

some from outside
everything in bloom and peach trees are already filled with little peaches....but ugly weather is on tap for tonight and saturday

last few
lunch is over
i have to get stuff put away in case the weather goes to bad, yards stuff needs staked or put up
but the reflective strips help guide me and give me direct info its parked in correct spot, i have 8 inches of wiggle room for tires that ensures i have space to walk around and open up the slides
i have great cameras but backing into a lit cave and having the bright sun staring at you really makes it an ordeal, my wife stands where i can see her in mirrors and i just be a good husband and watch what she tells me :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
i keep saying we need to widen the cave another 20 feet, so i can put both vehicles in
right now only the explorer can come in for bad weather

i have a friend that lives in his own hangar at our near by county airport
its HUGE x4
has his 45 foot bus, boats, cars, plane and 1500 sq foot living 2 story living space
we have thought about selling and buying the one next to him
they are 100 x100
he has a lounge area mapped out with fridge, couch etc and tvs right next to the bus

Steve McQueen lived in an airplane hanger for a while during/before a divorce. Can't get much cooler than Steve McQueen! That is a really cool set up. I have talked about seeing America in an RV but my wife is somewhat less enthusiastic. I believe her exact words were "I achieved a Masters Degree so I would not have to live in a car". I am still wearing her down.....
