Shoulder Holster

USMC1911

Elite
I recently ordered this shoulder holster for my SIG 220 from DeSantis. I also purchased the Shoulder Holster Universal Knife Accessory(SHUKA). I have a K-bar that would fit that nice. Over the years I have had a few shoulder holsters. Mostly for back up firearm, during the winter months while I was on the job. Does anyone still use a Shoulder holster? I always like the ones that attach to the belt.

Sorry….I ordered this from Galco not DeSantis. They both are the major holster companies I use.

One word of caution pay close attention to the blade retention constantly. A boss had that rig, or one similar, and lost his knife when the snap opened somewhere along a motorcycle trip. I am always leary now of butt down carry for guns or blades where gravity is against you.

I have I think 3 shoulder rigs. They have their place. I have a pair of leather ( Galco I think) rigs for .44 and .357 long barreled revolvers and I have an "Assault Systems" nylon rig I sometimes use when real estate on my waist is already occupied.

I had shoulder holsters for duty primarily when driving the limo on protection details or when on a seated post. Galco. I found limited use for it otherwise and defaulted to strong side holsters most of the time. Now it hangs on my retirement shadow box. I do have a shoulder holster for my .44 mag 629 when hunting or checking hog traps but I seldom use it.

I went Searching in my basement and found two old shoulder holsters I have used in the past. Black one from Beretta for NYPD Mini-Cougar 8000 9mm and Tan one from Cobra Gunskin S&W38 snub nose. Both for backup firearms back in the old days. I put some leather conditioner on them and they came back to life. i need to pull out the firearms and give them a little TLC.
