The officers did what was needed. Some people criticize police for "mag dumps", yet here it seems obvious why. Note the number of rounds used. https://nypost.com/2025/05/27/us-ne...efore-hes-shot-dead-in-wild-series-of-events/
reportedly in high spirits. But is the alligator ok , after eating that drug laden arm ?
Whoa…you just can’t make this stuff up.The officers did what was needed. Some people criticize police for "mag dumps", yet here it seems obvious why. Note the number of rounds used. https://nypost.com/2025/05/27/us-ne...efore-hes-shot-dead-in-wild-series-of-events/
YESSIREE - BOB!Sheriff Judd is my hero.
I was always taught very specifically that you are shooting to stop the threat. You're not trying to kill anybody but if as a result of you defending yourself they die that's regrettable but necessaryAnd you don't shoot to wound, you shoot to kill.
If it wasn't for lawyers, we wouldn't even need lawyers.lawyers, the only profession where the more of them there is, the more of them is needed.
That's very true. It's also true though if you answer " I did what any reasonable person would think necessary to stop the threat as quickly as possible. "It's a game of semantics. Intentionally applying lethal force is lethal force intentionally applied. Claiming you had no intent to kill when you shot him multiple times center mass is a ludicrous argument. I think it is a concept some PR guy came up with.
Here is the line of questioning:
Officer, have you attended police firearms training?
Yes
The targets used in that training, do they represent a human form?
Yes
What part of the target were you taught to shoot at?
Center mass
Center mass. That's the place where the heart, lungs, spinal cord, intestines are, correct?
Were you taught to shoot the target center mass two or more times?
Yes
Is it likely a person shot multiple times center mass will die?
Yes
Did you intend to kill Mr. _____?
No
Did you intentionally shoot Mr. ____ multiple times center mass?
Yes
And so on. When you shoot, it is lethal force intentionally applied, period. Whether the person lives or dies is often luck of the draw. Claiming I was just trying to stop the threat and didn't mean to kill him makes no sense in the real world.
NO…you shoot to stop!! Saying you were taught to shoot to kill will end up in really bad ju-ju.I guess it depends on the agency, but when I was a patrol officer, we were taught to shoot until the threat no longer existed.
And you don't shoot to wound, you shoot to kill.

How about if the meathead didnt try to use deadly force on an officer, he’d still be alive having a Big Mac.That's very true. It's also true though if you answer " I did what any reasonable person would think necessary to stop the threat as quickly as possible. "

I have zero sympathy for those that use true deadly intentions to try to kill an officer and end up dead.
Yep… all that “blindside” the elderly crap going on walking down the street.Me too. Also those who use deadly intentions on regular people that don't have it coming.
