Springfield Garrison: A Classic Springfield Out of the Box

Good article on the Springfield Garrison 1911, my shop had one of these, would have bought it if the clerk didn’t drop it on the floor as he took it out of the display case. It was the stainless version.

The Garrison looks like my ideal 1911. I like classic style 1911's without too many "tactical" updates like rails. An extended beavertail and non-pinned front sight are pretty much the only updates I want on a 1911. The only reason I haven't already bought one is that I am waiting to see if the Garrison will be on the IOP list next year. I'm definitely going to buy one, but I'm always willing to wait a bit for a good deal.

I’ve got one, in SS, approaching 2 mo old, and no complaints. I’d still be playing with it if my long-awaited Wilson hadn’t finally shown up.
But garrison is def a keeper. Not quite as well finished as my early production Ronin, it does have that timeless class that won’t be affected by trends (like “tactical coolness”).
Only thing I’m changing is possibly a ledge rear with no dots (I’m not a huge Novak fan) and a gold bead front - maybe a set from WC or Ed Brown .

That really is a nice looking handgun and although I would prefer the blued version it’s sad that employee had butter fingers and dropped that gun.
Article was very well written and and a good read thanks for sharing Annihilator.

Is one of my ideal favorites too.

Well, called my shop up just to see if they still had that Garrison, it was sold, so I got my name on there list for when one comes in, told them blue or stainless didn't matter.
