Springfield Prodigy DS 1911 4.25 Comp AOS

Anybody own this gun? And how do you feel about it ? I want to own a 1911 DS and this caught my eye , but the more reviews i read on it the more issues i see people had with it ( failures to feed and slide getting stuck mainly) , but then i hear that it was the first batch released having issues and since then Springfield has corrected these issues. What has your experience been like with this gun ? Is it a good buy now ? Thank you for any feedback and information you can provide
 
It depends on who you talk to. As soon as you say the 4.25 comp seems pretty trouble free someone comes on to say otherwise. Bottom line is that if you get one and have issues Springfield customer service is excellent and will get it sorted. The other thing to keep in mind is that 2011s typically have a a couple hundred round break in. FWIW, I have 4 2011s, including a Prodigy, and haven’t had a problem with any of them.

Thank you for that reply . I will be new to the 2011’s . Only been shooting striker fired . I’ve been reading 2011’s need to be cleaned/lubed more often ? As of now i normally clean/lube my guns after 300-500 rounds . Would that still be ok for a 2011 ? Or should it be more like after 100-200 rounds ? Just kinda nervous spending that kinda of money just to end up having a lot of trouble with it in the long run.. guess I’ll roll the dice lol . I’m happy to hear you haven’t had any issues with yours ! How many rounds approx do you have through your Prodigy ?

The main thing is to keep 2011s lubed. I’d probably clean about every 300 rds. To me it depends on how much the gun cost. Do I want to screw up a $3k? No. So I might fuss with it more. My Prodigy has 4,000 rds through it and it is very slick. I’ve done some polishing of internals and smoothing of the inside of the grip module to remove flashing around the trigger grooves, but it is all stock other than the toolless guide rod.
