TCM movie channel midnight tonight, 3/22/2024

Only thing i hope to be watching at midnight is the back of my eyelids,
well, for me, i will be going to bed about 8PM, cuz i have to wake up at 1:30AM, to go and pick up a family member that gets out of work, around 2.......so i will miss it........but then again, i got it recorded.

however, there are those (from what i can see from the time stamps on many threads), that are indeed up till at least midnight, and beyond.....

I read somewhere a long time ago that the driver of that truck, who is rarely if ever seen as I recall, was a very young Dennis Weaver. He later played Chester Goode as Matt Dillon's deputy in the series "Gunsmoke". He actually played several bad guys as a young fledgling actor.

Watched that maybe 30 years ago after hearing about it being Spielberg's first major picture. I preferred The Hitcher with Rutger Hauer (the genre, not that The Hitcher was a Spielberg flick). Duel is good for movie buffs, though.

sorry, but the truck driver was Cary Loftin, a big time stuntman, he was the jeep driver for General Omar Bradley in the movie Patton, and that's about the only time he is ever seen.

You're absolutely right Old_Me, Weaver was the salesman driving the old Plymouth IIRC. Don't know how I got them mixed up, but my point was that it was one of Weaver's early roles. I think it was also one of Steven Spielberg's first movies. Way back almost before either verywas well known.

yes, first made for tv movie for steven, on ABC

dennis did the gunsmoke gig, as a younger actor.

what i found interesting about the car weaver drove, is it had incredibly low miles, well under 20,000 and it needed a radiator hose..???

years ago, people didn't spot things in the movies, the way i know i do nowadays.

another thing to is the "continuity" of the scenes done in the editing room.

one scene, a hub cap flies off, another scene, it's still there. (this is true of many chase scenes however)

the man driving the dodge in the 'Bullitt" movie (he was wearing the black rimmed eye glasses), was himself a stuntman/actor.

tell you what too, if hollywood wasn't so hard on vehicles, i'd like to have weavers car, or that dodge or mustang in the Bullitt movie. the collector values alone would make them priceless.

The worst example I’ve seen was lately. I was watching Dark Winds. Leaphorn’s cool ass GMC Jimmy gets shot to hell, all the glass blown out, tires shot off. His buddy gets shot too. The next scene is him leaving the hospital where he took his buddy and the Jimmy is back to its original state.
