Testing the Brush Gun Myth

Great article/video. I was actually pretty surprised to see that even 45-70 can be deflected so easily. I was one of the guys who grew up believing the brush gun theory, mainly because I heard it from so many experienced hunters. I still love my .44 Mag levergun, but this may move a 45-70 version a little lower on my bucket list of guns to purchase.

Hmm. I have a couple brush guns. I was born and raised in Missouri and have been hunting here since maybe 1977. I've never even heard of the " Brush gun myth". A brush gun in these parts is almost always an unscoped, lever action 30-30. And not a show piece. It's more or less a rifle you don't mind dragging through the brambles.

And in any case, ANY bullet will be effected if you shoot through the brush at something. One of the first hunting lessons I was ever taught was don't shoot unless you have a clear shot, you are certain of your target and you know what's behind it.
