The Department of Veterans Affairs today announced a major new step to protect Veterans’ Second Amendment rights.

After a thorough review, VA recognized that many Veterans had been deprived of their Second Amendment rights without hearings or adequate determinations that they posed a sufficient risk of danger to themselves or others.

In consultation with the Department of Justice, VA has determined this practice violates both the Gun Control Act and Veterans’ Second Amendment rights. According to federal law, a decision by a judicial or quasi-judicial body is needed before someone can be reported to NICS.

I do nothing with the VA. In my mind they are the worst. I would rather die than be seen or touched by them. To me the VA should be abolished.

I’m on the fence on it. I have a friend that (a few) gets help through the VA. Personally it depends on where you go now a days.

On the other hand the VA didn’t do anything when it came to my grandfather. Told him that his depression was in his head and bye bye.

After a couple of visits with them and saw that I was getting nowhere I told them to stick it. Have never bothered with them again even after they have requested my presence. I have also gone as far as I don't want one of their cheap flags on my coffin or a grave marker, i'll purchase my own.

I'm 100% P&T with the VA. I could have all my health care taken care of by the VA. And my wife could use CHAMP VA for her health care. But I keep my Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance going, even though I am now retired. I am reluctant to depend on the VA for all my and my wife's health care needs. The Obama years left a pretty bad taste in my mouth about VA health care. I know things have become better with the VA, but that seems to vary by location. In a couple of years my youngest will turn 26 and she will be responsible for her own insurance. At that time, I will make a decision about keeping private health insurance going or dropping it and going with just the VA for myself. If my wife doesn't think that CHAMP VA alone won't be good enough for her, she can sign up for health insurance just for herself at her job. Rates for her alone are not bad. They go super high when you add a spouse or family. I'll wait two more years and test the waters then.

I have my grandfather’s flag. All I’ll say on forum.
