The humble Swiss Army knife

So many variations of the Swiss Army are so useful. Here several are discussed. I carry one in my GHB and each vehicle.

I’ve got several Alox models in my EDC rotation. I’ve been using them since 1979

I like SAKs but never carry them. Top priority for me is I have to be able to pinch open the blade, even with wet cold stiff fingers, better still while wearing mittens. Also, truth be told, all the gadgets are nice but I'm as well served with a Queen Country Cousin (sodbuster) and a P38 in my wallet.

I have several versions of the SAK, all purchased years ago when not a week would go by when I didn’t buy a knife. I don’t carry them on my person, but some are strategically located in backpacks, purses, and other places around home. I have a special firefighters’ version and a nautical version that are interesting.

The only souvenirs I brought back from my daughter’s wedding in Key Largo a few weeks ago were a pocket tee and a wooden handled SAK with my name on it. Super cheesy and touristy I know, but it’s now in a drawer and I suspect the next time it sees the light will be when my daughter is going through my stuff after I die. Might make her smile. Unless she’s divorced. I suppose.
