while looking on-line for ammo prices.I see that tracer ammo is being sold in various calibers.Always fascinated by tracer ammo after doing a night fire exercise while training at 29 Palms .While in conversation with some other Marines. The gunny came past and said.Yea,tracers are fun to look at,but just remember. You can see where there going. And you can see where they come from.Food for thought !

There is a company called a Streak Ammo that sells ammo that looks like tracers, but it’s not, no chance of catching anything on fire. I think the base of the bullet is coated with some kind of fluorescent chemical, and the firing of the round will light up its base, so that it looks like tracer rounds.

Yeah, I mentioned in another post on wanting to try it and if anyone on here have. I wonder if ranges will allow it thinking it could still start fires regardless of what the ammo co. says.

WWII Ace George Beurling had his mechanic remove the tracer rounds from his guns making him one of the first to use stealth ammo. If you know where you are shooting, which you always should, why do you need ammo that is going to disclose your position? I prefer the stealth ammo as to the neon sign "here I am, it's me over here" ammo.

I have shot them in the woods ( no fire ) . haven't tried at a indoor range yet.

Airsoft tracer-BBs - which are made with photoluminescent dye and typically "charged" by an LED flash-strobe/optical sensor device dressed-up as a faux suppressor or other large muzzle device - are a thing, too. :)
You reminded me of the time I caught a tom using my front yard as a litter box. Tired of the surprises, I got my electric DPMS Panther and lit up the tom. For moving targets, the airsoft tracers are perfect.

He snuck into the yard, as he had gotten accustomed to my chasing him off. Then proceeded to pinch a baggett. Trembling with effort he failed to notice the front door open.

A stream of glowstick green bbs reached out and enveloped the siluete.

Im sure the visual effect with the added persuasion of a magazine of 300 fps bbs helped him with his decision to find another toilet.

It also gave me a new found appreciation for the quality entertainment......er training that you can get with airsoft.
