I was an Eagle Keeper Crew Chief for half my military career. Started with 74 A&B models then went to C&D's. It was a great airplane to work on. I was then transitioned to the F16. Every time I go to Holloman AFB I see one of the aircraft I crewed at airplane park. Those were the days!

I was the crew chief on F15B 74-138. I was lucky enough to get several rides in the backseat. Was even lucky enough to be on an intercept of a russian bear bomber over alaskan air space. This was when I was assigned to Elmendorf AFB AK. Crewed that jet until we transferred to C/D models and ours were sent to Hawaii Air Guard.
I flew F-4’s out of Andrews in ’76 just as the 1st TFW was getting the brand new F-15A. We got to fight them in dissimilar ACM. The performance of the F-15 was eye watering. They were significantly superior to the F-4 in every area, particularly if the F-4 got below 400 kts. My technique for fighting them was to stay between 500 and 600 kts. Everyone turns the same at 6 g. at 500 kts. That was where I minimized my disadvantages.
