Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled "Understanding Holster Retention" and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/understanding-holster-retention/.

Guess the author was not around in the days of military sidearms with a full flap holster that secured the piece from anyone getting a grip on it while at the same time keeping moisture and debris out? Or the MP lanyard that prevented take away even if the piece was removed from the holster?

Totally awesome article. And although I’ve moved on from working for a company in the capacity of armed security during that time I’ve built an impressive list of clients that I support with armed escort services, for that reason I invested in a SafariLand ALS/SLS level 3/4 retention holster for my Glock 40 and ordered one for my XDM 45 it’s a level 3 when using the pancake over the belt system and considered a level 4 when using the belt loop attachment. They both come with the holster. I use the belt loop. As the article mentioned it took a very short period of time for me to get used to the draw process, it’s all in the thumb. They are not inexpensive but are built very well.
