Using the M1 Garand in a match with 5 stages and multiple targets out to 400 yards on every stage.

If I shot almost 200 rounds of .30-06 in a single afternoon I'd probably be the next in line after Keystone needing shoulder surgery.
Long story, many years ago I was sighting in a custom Remington XP-100 in .338CJMK, a wildcat cartridge from JD Jones, .35 Rem case necked down to .338caliber, with a 200gr bullet, it launched at 3200fps out of a magnaported 12” barrel. Gun had a 2 ounce trigger, loaded up the gun, friend said something and I touched the trigger without a firm grip on gun, needless to say it went off, recoil dislocated my right thumb, trip to ER room yo have it put back in place, I know the feeling of shooting a Garand with lots of down range rounds.

Garands are fine. Tens of thousands of soldiers shot hundreds of rounds daily sometimes. I’ve only shot 64 rounds total one day, but that was no issue.

.300 Weatherby Mag 220 gr after 5 rounds was “hell no” for #6
