When in bed.....

Within reach while in bed--none. Within one step after getting out of bed, 3 in my dresser drawer. And a few steps further away, another in my wife's dresser drawer for her use. I have a lot of bad dreams while I sleep, and I need a couple of seconds to become awake enough to know whether what I dream is real or not. I no longer take the chance of having a loaded firearm within reach of lying in my bed because of the dreams I sometimes have. My dogs will give me plenty of advance notice of trouble in the house at night while I sleep.

Same with me takes several seconds to get a clear view of things. Do have a pistol on a nightstand but know not to grab it till the fog goes away. Believe my dogs could hear a mouse fart.

I'll be there tonight......sometime. 😁

How many guns do you have within reach?
Zero.

I used to keep a gun on the headboard of my bed. We had one of those headboards that had shelves on it. It was kind of a "Pile It".

Anyway I woke up one night with my gun in my hand and my wife laying across my chest trying to stop me from blasting the window air conditioner. Apparently I had a nightmare.

Anyway, from that night on my bedside gun sits on top of my dresser. So I have to get out of bed and take a step before I can grab it. By that time I ought to be completely awake.
