Why do the 17 rd mags rattle

there was other people on reddit with the same problem. I was told it was normal by customer service and warranty. Something about when the spring is fully compressed there isn't enough tension on the first two rounds loaded. It makes the magazine completely useless for concealed carry you can here it when I walk . I can't be the only one with this issue if it's considered normal to rattle like that

the rattling is usually caused by misalignment of cartridges which is a follower. the follower knows more than a spring does, but is the spring isn't in correct position to keep the follower from canting it can be the problem. check ammo in a different mag of the same cartridge.

Every once in a while. Sometimes the rounds don’t stack up as tight thwre is no change in reliability if you take one out it should stop if it bugs you that much 15 or 17 isn’t going to make or break anyone that’s ever been documented this side of Faluja

It is a magazine for a Springfield hellcat 9mm pro comp model. If I load 15 rounds it doesn't rattle 16 and 17 start to rattle. The 15 round it also came with no problem. This is what I was told
Due to the fact that the bullets case is coned shaped (the outer diameter of the case is larger in the back and more narrow in the front) and the double stack staggering is as wide as we can go to insure the highest capacity and reliability it is possible and likely that a round in the mag will not be under tension until a round is removed. Some mags do have a more distinctive sound than others as well. This is no need for concern.

I also received this.
Thank you for contacting Springfield Armory. You might try bouncing the rounds while they are in the mags to shuffle them into a more supported stance inside the mag.

The XD, XDM, Hellcat and XDS line of mags can and do rattle, it is normal.

Thank you and have a great day!

that sounds like my neighbors............it's you, not me thing:(

I've swapped them around i went as far as sending it back to Springfield they told me there was nothing wrong with it and the rattle is normal. It's in the mail now they are sending it back. This doesn't seem normal to me . I thought for sure they would make good on this i wish I could get the video I took of it before I sent would load but it won't.

I payed good money for that hellcat for it to have such a problem. I also have a xds 45 and love it no issues. If they won't stand behind a magazine I won't buy anything else from them . I have lots of guns lots of different manufacturers never had an issue like this

It's not a problem.

i state it as a follower being the main issue as i've used cartridges (rifle ar mags) that weren't designed for short mags. they stay aligned for about 5-7 rounds in 20 round mag then get loose.

it might not be an actual issue as it's annoying more than anything, but as long as it feed 100% than it isn't as much of a problem. i wouldn't want the rattling either!
