Good article. I firmly believe that identifying potential threats and appearing like you're prepared to confront them can prevent things from developing into real threats. This doesn't even require looking tough or like you're prepared to do violence. So many people only pay attention to their phone, and ignore their surroundings, that you can deter many potential criminals simply by looking at them. Most criminals prefer easy targets, and would rather wait a few minutes for another unsuspecting victim than take a chance with one who might fight back or be able to identify them.
