The Gun That Killed Billy The Kid Is Going Up For Auction.

Interesting brief article about the single action revolver used to kill Billy the Kid is going up for auction. Has some details and photos about the handguns origins.

A surprising follow up article about the same revolver.

Hmm. A 56 foot motor sailer that displaces 95,000 pounds and can navigate blue water to any destination, only costs $2 million shiny and new. While history is interesting and something to be preserved, there's no way I'd trade a yacht, a ranch or a business for that old revolver just because it ventilated a 19th century serial killer. The buyer is thinking that in future years it will bring a lot more.
There's a lot of easy money out their sloshing around in the rich folks' bank accounts.
Very interesting story, thanks!

yes, but those yachts burn up diesel at a high rate, and diesel is expensive. then you need a crew, captain, etc. then you need insurance. then there are yearly taxes, and docking fee's.

the yacht will devaluate in very short time. then repairs.

the gun can be put into a safe.

no taxes, on the gun yearly like the boat......maybe insurance if the new owner wants it, the boat owner MUST have insurance.

the gun may keep it's value, maybe increase..

the boat will lose value, cost money to maintain and run..

i'd say the gun owner made out much better.

Pretty much agreed, do enjoy reading and experiencing history too and you're welcome.

Somewhat....motor SAILER yachts.
The sailer part usually refers to sails which can conserve many things except some time? With some sailboats or sailers, there's some fairly quick ones out there. A well taken care of boat can maintain it's value to the boating crowd. And yes, boats can also be "a hole in the water" to pour in vast amounts of money too.

I am not much of a bourbon drinker but I went out to pick up a bottle for a close friends birthday wow that 💩 is pricey

About same in many areas with many things. It can be amazing and "enlightening". Found a nice new utility trailer last year, this year while out looking at same exact trailer for attachments, noticed the trailer itself had almost doubled in price at the same place.

If not too careful with pricing while out shopping, this country may end up like some of the South American countries where their currency isn't worth peanuts?
