My Uncle was a Marine who fought in the Pacific. I bought the DVD mini series “The Pacific”, and was shocked at the brutality of the conditions they fought under. It was a real eye opener.

Thanks for the post. I am a bit of a WW2 buff because my grandfather was a replacement troop at Pearl Harbor after the attack. He would tell us stories when we got a little older and take my brother and I out shooting with his 1911 he came home with after the war.

Agreed, I have them both. One Uncle fought in the Pacific as mentioned prior, and another Uncle (3rd Army under Gen. Patton), and Father (2nd Lt. U.S. Army Air Corp, co-pilot of a troop transport plane), fought in the European Theater. None never talked about it, but my one Uncle was a collector and watcher of "The World at War" series on VHS

My Grandma's brothers (3 or 4, I'm not sure how many) were all in WW2. They were in all 3 branches, but unsure about if any in the Pacific? All made it back alive as so many didn't.

I love reading these war stories, the younger crowd needs to read and study this history of how we are today thanks to those who gave all then!

If you can get them off of TicTok are whatever else their head is buried in. They have no idea of the horrors of war or what was sacrificed for them so they can live the lives they currently have.
