Meet the TRP Operator

I really enjoy mine. Very smooth and easy to be accurate. I did put TFX Pro Orange Day/Night on for my eye benefit and enjoy shooting this gun at the range. The guys that I shoot with enjoy and offer praise after running this gun.

I once owned a 1911 Colt Govt. 80 series that has turned me against the platform for the last 40 years. I swore them off all on the behavior of that Nickle plated 5" beauty that was the first handgun I ever purchased. Wanted one ever since I saw one in an old WWII movie as a kid. My XD and my XDM have been my favorite handguns since i was able to sell that Colt. Purchased an XD 4" service model in .45acp. and have never looked back. I own 3 now, one 9mm, one .45acp and one 10mm. The XDM 10mm has been my ccw now since November. love it. Keep your 1911s, they look nice and some shoot even better, but personal preference has me leaning to my XD family. Not hating just set in my ways. Rant over.

I Have the TRPs in 45 (featured in this article/video), and the 6" 10mm TRP. Unfortunately, neither came in the aforementioned nylon cases (but I did get two nice plastic cases that I'll never use again :cautious:). Both pistols are exceptionally crafted and the price was just few hundred over other higher end 1911's I own (Colt Gold Cup (45) & Delta Elite (10mm), Kimber Custom II (45), Ruger SR1911 (10mm)). I changed the G10 "Alien" grips on the 10mm to match the "Tactical Diamonds" that came on the 45 (bought them through G10 VZ Grips). Both are smart looking pistols and I'm glad I got them. 🥳

The TRP's are nice, but for about the same money, I’d probably look at a Dan Wesson Specialist.
I have a buddy that's a salesman at my LGS that loves Dan Wesson 1911's and used his during his competition days. I was drooling over a Nighthawk Custom Firearms 1911 that went for over 4K, and he mentioned that a Dan Wesson was equally as good for a substantially lower price. I may have to look into one down the road a piece. :sneaky:

Care to share what turned you against the 1911 ? Just curious. All of us have a certain gun model that we dislike something about. I don't like the grip angle of the Glock platform. I tried but just don't get along with it.
