Florida Gun Legislation 2024 Session

Even the Gunshine state isn’t immune. 😞
The anti-gun stuff comes out of the East Coast/I-95 Corridor where migrants from the liberal states have taken up residence.

I most of us have no problem with the age limit of 21 to buy a firearm. Military and LE are exempt. We see open carry bills come up every year but I don't think general open carry will go anywhere-most of us think it is a bad idea. The anti-gun stuff is DOA with the Republican super majority but the liberal coast will continue pushing. Whatever happens, Florida will remain on the bleeding edge of gun legislation.

Please don't speak for me.
Do you have any data to suggest that "most of us" agree or think as you do? Please don't use CNN, MSNBC, or some other anti 2A polling. I for one don't agree. You're a legal adult at 18 or at 21, stop the half step controlling B.S. and that's what it is all about, control. As for open carry, not my cup of tea but I ain't the one drinking it. Doesn't affect me, harm me, or interfere with me, not my business.

Actually, it would be interesting if someone a lot smarter than me would set up a series of polls, about issues like age to buy handguns, rifles ammo, legal open carry, constitutional carry, mandatory training, etc., on this forum of firearms enthusiast. HINT, HINT.

Frankly I’ll be forever mortified that polls or public opinion at all was ever allowed to influence constitutional law. It was designed specifically to avoid that.

In theory we selected our legislators to do our bidding. That is the ultimate poll. We will never agree on everything but this legislature has done pretty well representing my community's interests. I can see the argument about age limits, but we have always had age 21 restriction to buy a pistol. And you must be 21 to buy alcohol or tobacco products so it is not a foreign concept.

As long as they raise the age of everything else to 21 I don’t have a problem with it. If you can get married, sign a legal contract , serve your country in the armed forces and be held responsible for your own behavior as an adult then you should be able to buy any legal product you can afford. Period.
