Springfield Prodigy 4.25 DS optic screws fix

I just found this site and can't believe I've missed it after so many years of being a part of forums. Plus I love Springfields. My favorite one WAS the range officer operator that shoots flawless. I love it and have loved it for many years util the Springfield Prodigy came out. I bought one without even shooting one. A couple of buddies of mine posted vids from Shot show (2024) and I was sold. Problem was the genie was out of the bottle and everyone was on back order until I stopped at my favorite indoor shooting range and just asked if they had one. They did, it just came in and I bought it. Had to have it shipped to Oklahoma because I live north of the red. NO PROBLEM. One of the Owners lives near an FFL in Oklahoma not far from my office so I picked it up the next day. After cleaning it (like I do all new guns) I liked the way it was put together. Went to the range not expecting much as a bit of a break in is needed (in my thoughts). Nope. That thing was well sighted. Just a bit off so some hold under was needed but not much. At 12 yds I destroyed my target. I shot till I was tired plus the cerakote (I think its cerakote) was wearing off, as it should.
In my opinion doing any sanding or rubbing on the slides to rub off the cerakote is not a good idea. It will sand itself down with itself so leave it alone and shoot it, clean it and shoot it. You can't take off material you removed.
All that to say I wanted to put my Holosun 507 c V2 green dot shake to wake on my prodigy. Had to order the proper plate for it. I think it's 14a but can't remember the 407 is a bit thinner in width. Anyway the screws they sent with it are too short for Holosun red dots. Easy fix. Take your dremel with a cut off bit and trim two threads off each screw. Gently remove any metal shards but don't get crazy. A tiny bit of blue loc tite and your in business. I think the torque for the plate and the optic is 16 to 18 inch/lbs.
Lastly, you folks do great videos. Very detailed
Here's a pic of my baby. Plan on replacing the trigger for no good reason at all.
Don't make fun of my light. I've had it for over 20 years.
Thanks for having me.

Welcome from Ohio, lots of good people here and don’t be afraid to ask anything, very knowledgeable members here

The optic is 12 in lbs and the plate is 18. And you don’t really need LocTite, but I guess it doesn’t hurt if it makes you feel better.

All my Holosun RDMS came with a short pair and a long pair of screws.

Welcome from Missouri.

12 to 18 what ever you're comfortable with. Not sure the issue but blue loctite is here for a reason and that's making sure your screws get a good hold. I'm not sure what screws came with the Holosuns but the Springfield Prodigy plate takes a particular thread.
I'm just putting in what I did for this particular issue that a lot of people are facing with this very popular DS from springfield. You're correct on the 12 but it says you can exceed that a bit if you're comfortable. Depends on the use and exchange of energy to the slide.
My opinion only. Have you tried the 407 c green dot x2? Curious about the dot. All mine are 507c's

No. I have 507C, 507K and an SCS on a VP9. All green, (X2)

I know what LocTite is for. It’s for keeping screws tight when either A) you’re dealing with chucklehead consumer Joe who cares not about torque settings or B) you’re dealing with inferior screws.

Full disclosure, this is a long running theme here. I’ve converted some to my ( correct) way of thinking and I’ve altered my opinion slightly to thinking blue or purple is ok as long as you don’t over torque it and you use an actual, well fitting Torx driver if you go to remove it rather than some Chinese bit that’s more likely to strip the F out of it than remove it.

Welcome to the family!
Thanks. I really do enjoy the forum and hope I can keep from getting kicked out.
I've just started skimming through some of the topics and you have some smart people here that have a lot to share.
Like I said, if I'm not banned soon, I'll be able to use some of that knowledge and perhaps add to the conversation as well.
But that all rest on me not getting Das Boot

Shiza, you mentioned three times about getting booted, are you planning on getting chippy already? Go easy on us...

I've seen a couple of the garbage torque tools at a few gun shows. At Wanamaker's about 15 years or more back, I bought the Fat Boy that was made in China. It has worked flawlessly and it's clicks match those of a friend of mine who has a much mor expensive Lyman. I've used it for years with no problem.
I am a big fan of having one if you plan on getting serious with your gun optics or anything else on your weapon. Long gun or pistol
