Behind The Brand: MidwayUSA

Good story on Midway USA, some history on it also.

Midway USA and Joe Bob Outfitters are the top places I shop for firearm accessories. Both of these companies have exceptional service and the fastest shipping I've experienced for an online firearms store. Joe Bob's edges Midway USA in slightly faster shipping times.

Must be a recent phenomenon because I've bought a lot of stuff from Midway over the years and their shipping hasn't impressed me. The last time I bought something from them was pretty good but prior to that it's usually a week. And I live 2 hours east of them. It usually goes to KC then back across the state to me. Which makes no sense. They're often pretty high price wise too.

i have items shipped priority mail, as it only costs like $2 or $3 over the regular shipping charges, plus it comes with tracking

we pay for amazon prime, supposed to get "next day" delivery on some items that are advertised as next day....., that's BS, takes like 2-3 days sometimes

2 day delivery not always 2 days......

but shipping is free, with Prime....

for the amount of stuff we order?

we save on shipping, beyond the cost of Prime membership.

I ordered 3 different things at different times from Amazon this past week. All came when expected. In fact I ordered something Sunday night after dinner and it was at my house the next day. It all depends on if they have the item in a warehouse near you. And mostly it depends on if you actually buy it from Amazon or from a seller on Amazon. Big difference.

I have bought a lot of stuff from Midway and I and my wife buy a lot of stuff on Amazon. The shipping between the two is not even close to comparable. As I said, every single thing I have ever bought from Midway gets sent to the hub in Kansas City before being shipped right back across to the east side of the state. Minimum 4 days every single time except this last time. I bought some Vortex binoculars and they got here in 2 days. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have even emailed them about their shipping and received a curt reply from them. Shipping is my biggest pet peeve with any vendor and the number one reason I don't buy a lot more stuff from Midway.

yes, there is an amazon warehouse about 40 minutes north of me, across the state line, i used to work out of the same industrial park

items were in stock there....as advertised at time of ordering, as long as i ordered by xx amount of time which i always do

soon, a huge warehouse in the city across town from me, like a 15 minute drive

in stock, next day, by 5PM........nope......not as promised.

kinda disappointing

Well I'll say this. Your experience with Amazon shipping is an outlier. I know of no one who complains about it. It's ridiculous to make a statement saying Amazon shipping is bad. It's by a very large margin the fastest shipping in the country. And I find this thread praising Midway's shipping ironic since every single experience I have had with them except the last one, sucked.

Even assuming Midway stepped up their shipping game ( which I hope is the case) comparing them to Amazon shipping times is ludicrous.

As I said, my last Amazon purchase was about 15 hours from order time to my porch. Very rarely has Amazon shipping been late for me and we use them all the time.

I use Joe Bob a lot. Never heard of them until you told me about them. In my experience their shipping is dramatically faster than Midway.

well ridiculous or not, i know what we are experiencing here.

if it is not an Amazon van, it is people in thier personal vehicles, wearing amazon vests, and amazon placards on thier vehicles, that are making the deliveries.

i have asked them why no van?

they are "gig workers" on a 1099 working as independants for amazon

and as i said, "in stock items, next day delivery" is just not happening here.

Although it's not a big deal 5-7 days from Midway is average. There must be a Amazon warehouse near me as we get a lot of stuff the next day after ordering.

5-7 days is far too long to wait for something. It's pretty sad I have to wait for 5 days on average for a package from Midway, which I paid a premium shipping price for, when it's 125 miles away, yet I order a case of ammo from SG Ammo down in Oklahoma, free shipping and it gets to me in 2 days.

Of course I don't like waiting but I can't make Midway ship faster. If I knew how much I've spent at Midway over the years I'd probably be shocked. Never have purchased guns or ammo from them. Their shipping is expensive and they advertise fast shipping. If I lived close to them like you do I'd probably be pissed.

Well, it may be reasonable or it may be normal to some people, but I really dislike slow shipping, especially when I pay a premium shipping price. There are companies I won't do business with strictly because of their shipping and there are companies I only deal with if it is an extremely good price and I am willing to overlook their shipping times for a better price on a product. PSA used to be one I didn't deal with unless it was a great price, but they have dramatically improved their CS and shipping over the last few years. Hopefully Midway is improving their shipping because generally I like them and I like to support Missouri businesses.

I use MidwayUSA as much as any other. Still miffed that they bought and eliminated several stock manufacturing companies; Fajan, Bishop and, I think, American.
