M1A Scout legality in California

rfd

Alpha
Hi,

I am trying to answer the question - is the M1A Scout Squad rifle fully legal & compliant with California's laws (as of Feb 2025)?
I am aware of the 10+ round magazine restriction, as well as restrictions on flash suppressors.
But otherwise it seems the M1A is compliant.
Springfield produces a "California compliant" Standard M1A, which looks to just have the same muzzle brake as the Scout (they normally have a flash suppressor). If that is the primary difference, then it seems the Scout is fine in CA - but I haven't been able to verify this.

Thank you in advance for any help on this!

The rifle will come with a 10 magazine, and the Springfield muzzle brake/compensator, that makes it Kalifornia legal, PERIOD

How do I know, because that's how my Loaded Standard came in 2000.

Other than the threaded muzzle, the M1A isn't a Kalifornia enigma legality wise

Hi,

@Talyn, @USMC6094, and @BassCliff - thank you all so much for your replies, very helpful!

I escaped California three years ago so I'm a little bit familiar with the maze of gun control laws there. Be sure to research any modifications you might make to stock units. It's frustrating what they consider scary and dangerous.

For grins and giggles, here is a page with all of the SA firearms that are legal in CA...

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
