Had a nice shave with a brand new ( To me) soap from Barrister and Mann called Fougere Gothique.

What the devil might smell like.

"An eerily smooth, smoky fougère with a distinctly “ashy” character and the dark cast of some ancient atrocity. Timelessly elegant and refined, Fougère Gothique is a fragrance for someone accustomed to the fruits of all-encompassing power. This rich, elemental scent features notes of black ashes, bergamot, lavender, cedar, sandalwood, geranium, leather, tuberose, burning wood, mushroom, oakmoss, tonka bean, vetiver, musk, and balsam fir absolute."

Used the Timeless .095 /Feather blade

And the Seville Row 2 band Silvertip.

A vintage Gillette "No date Code" 40s Super Speed is an excellent all around razor and can be found on eBay for less than $20. A 100 pack of blades can be bought for anywhere from $10-$30 depending on the blade. A pretty good synthetic boar brush can be bought for $15 and a quality shave soap can be bought for anywhere from $7-$25.

So in reality, if you aren't impetuous, you can spend $50 and other than soap you won't need to buy any shave products for many years. You can get 5 or 6 shaves out of each blade.
This. You get a better shave, you save a ton of $4 over cartridge blades and shaving becomes an experience again. Slow down, take your time and enjoy it👍. I started back in the 60’s with a Gillette. Several years later the first “2 blade” came out, got one. Later, the “Trac 3” with three blades, and then, finally one of the 4 blade beasts. I was shaving one day a few years ago and the synopses finally fired and I ask myself “self, why in heck do you need FOUR blades to shave your mug?”. Answer: you don’t -You shaved for years with ONE. That day I ordered a new Razor and have used an old fashioned razor blade ever since. Today a lot of men have never actually shaved with a blade. Try it!

The irony is that with a single blade I get a far closer shave than you ever will with a multi-blade cartridge.

I admit I went overboard when I first got into wet shaving, but if one were so inclined you could spend about $75-$100 and wouldn't need to buy any other shaving related products for years.

Do you shave with that auto stiletto?
No, Neither of them, but I do occasionally shave with one of the straights on the shelf above it.

That space is shared between shaving crap and knives. The knives in there are only the good ones. I have a duffel bag full of Boker autos, giant Rambo knives bought from flea markets and other low end blades. Also you'll notice some empty spaces on the 3rd shelf down. A pair of Benchmades usually sit there, but when I took this picture they were on my person.

This. A pack of 100 blades is less than 3 or 4 “cartridges”.
