Dodge pulling the plug on electric Charger g/t

Hi,

Don't forget Elawn still makes them and has people signing up every day.

Sure, as with most new technologies, I'm glad there is a segment of society that can afford to be the early adopters. Let them get all the bugs worked out, bring the price down, etc, so the regular John Q. Public consumers can afford it, if it's practical. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

if the morons would add generators to all 4 wheels, then that would be the best way to charge for a long drive. too bad that defeats the purpose of donating money to the electric companies. imagine if the 4 wheel generators would power enough to keep the batteries fully charged! it wouldn't take much for it to be designed and come on when needed as not to overcharge.

btw, corvette already has that feature on their e-vette's.............well not to completely keep it charged, but does add miles tho.

That’s pretty much how Formula 1’s hybrid engines work. They have regenerative braking that charges the power unit.

a pure EV would fit close to 80 or even 90% of our normal weekly running round
BUT BUT BUT
other trips we need distance and ease of refuel.
but agree evs are just a tool in the tool box
like circular saws, small ones for trim, large one for construction, and bigger ones for BIG asres wood

ram is developing a type of hybrid that uses an ICE to generate electricity to drive road wheels, think locomotive engine
its a bit more efficient than the big engines and will have a place in some peoples tool box

ford powerboost is a great option and ford fails to advertise its actual fantastic abilities

my ford 6.7 500 hp 1200 tq monster fits my needs. i can call it a hybrid of sorts, it has a 2k watt generator built in. :ROFLMAO:
our 3.0 400 hp explorer ST. also has a very strong place in our NEEDS and WANTS
and bottom line
we are creatures with free will, let us decide which tool works for US..

A hybrid makes sense to me. All electric does not. And I do have some ownership experience. When we first started dating, my wife had a Prius. Her definition of a "good car" was based on gas mileage. Terrible waste of potential fun. It was a great car...she had purchased it new, and outside of consumables like tires and wiper blades never required any additional maintenance. Oh, until the battery went out, like they all will, at about the 10 year and one month mark. Cost me $4000 to replace. No value in used car when they get to be about 8 years old as the looming battery cost scares off buyers. So go into it knowing this. It was a great "A to B tool" but no fun. As for all electric, forget it. I had enough range anxiety for a lifetime when I drove a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 to Florida with that tiny peanut tank. And THAT was with gas stations everywhere. I don't even want to think what my nerves would do with limited chances to charge!

What’s a Dodge? 😎

My 7.3 Godzilla and the wifes ST fit our needs as well.

while it might be fine for low powered needs, i don't believe 1 would get you very far. you would need to fill the trunk and back seat area for that kind of charge. or add solar panels to every inch (except for glass areas) of the vehicle.
I was sorta being facetious, but now you've got me wondering how many solar panels someone would need to tow behind them to get the ammeter needle to the 'plus' side of zero....

my aged parents have a maverick hybrid
its perfect for them
gets really good mpg for the way she drives.....wide open...
i like when i take them to docs i can sit in mav with old ac running and the ev part runs and runs then the ice fires up occasionally to recharge
its nice
