Kimber is revamping there 1911 design, looks like a S&W 1911 to me, I do know at one time Kimber forged the S&W slides and frames for a bit when S&W first started there 1911’s, anyway these new ones look interesting, hopefully price wise they won’t be to bad.

I like the optics cut.
I don’t like the round butt “fastback” grip or the internal extractor.

Rounded frames: They all feel awful to me.

Internal extractor: I’ve yet to see how they benefit anything or anyone except the manufacturer.

The 1911 market is certainly a crowded market already. It will be interesting to see how this one fares in light of the competition. Of course, I still can't fathom the how/why/what for, of the K6 revolver and yet it's still in the lineup, so what do I know.....

One benefit I guess you can say about the external extractor is they are self adjusting unlike the original internal one, which does need minor adjustment at times.

Kimber does already have a big share of the 1911 market, but will people actually want to go to move up to this model over there original version, like Pitdogg2 said if it’s a series 70 only and not that stupid Swartz safely

That’s an external extractor.

Internal is what a traditional 1911 has.

I really don’t care for them either, one reason I got rid of my Sig 1911, not a traditional 1911, I also remember when Kimber had a Glock type extractor many years ago, big failure then
