What are you doing right now??

Winding down from my all day and the first time walk-about up high this year. Had to slog-through or bypass some remaining snow fields in the last 300 ft. of elevation until I topped out at 8,250 ft. The mountain in the background is at 9,200 ft.

Ended up with a small blister on a big toe which is the first time that happened. But was on the brakes coming down that last 300 ft on the return until I hit the trail out from under the snow. Looking down at civilization (at 3,200 ft.) in the valley bottom.

All in all a good trip. Yesterday we had bad weather so today was the day.

More to come on the same trail/area since it's relatively close by and a good training hike for the higher ones later this summer. Got to build up some more callouses on the feet.
That's F'in awesome.

I miss hiking. My knees are blown out, my feet are flat, and a squished lumbar (L1) that never fully decompressed... I'll be happy when Jesus comes back, because I sure could use a retread!! (TBH, just replace EVERYTHING.)
Getting old isn't for sissies. That, and beware of old men in dangerous professions...

Sometimes owning Big Trees sucks I've been sawing big limbs up and picking limbs up all morning from these hard rains we've been having for the last 3 or 4 days I'm sawing up a big limb with a chainsaw and I heard a crack I took off then about that time this limb hit about 4 ft 5 ft from where I was standing it would have killed me it probably weighs 70-80 lb it's wet and a big limb now I'm soaking wet from the sweat the humidity is horrible here and a whole lot more rain to come what they say

I have always said trees are evil like cats.... glad this one had bad aim....

Many moons ago during a light hurricane a tree limb broke off a tree in front of the house we were renting and that limb went through the hood and engine of sr's 70s Cadillac giving the car an 8" thick horn like a rhino....

Had a monster branch fall in my front yard in Jersey. When i got outside there were a bunch of my neighbors and police. Neighbors asked “how bad was the shake in your house? We felt it so and so houses down”. Mrs Sharks and i said we didn’t even know it fell, the power going out and the fan stopping is what woke us up 😂

Been trying fairly hard to stay on my Atkins diet. My sweet wife made this chocolate cake before I got up this morning. Imagine there are a zillion carbs in each piece. My willpower has left me just finished eating a large piece. Oh well, it is Father's Day.View attachment 85961
There are zero calories in chocolate cake on Sundays, and it counts as a nutritional food group on Father’s Day’s. 😊

Ting in a hospital bed, recovering from a hip revision. First doc, three months ago, managed to have the spike down my femur come loose, he also fractured the femur and made my right leg be 1.5-2 inches short. Hopefully this surgery will work better. Debating on a lawsuit. Anyway, Fox on the TV is covering the Israeli/Iranian conflict. So far, the Iranians are getting the worst of it. IMO, they need to take out the ayatollah and give the Iranian people a chance of overthrowing the theocracy.
Made it home!! Still hurts like s..t, sorry Belladonna. However, it is nice to have both feet squarely on the ground again. Another 6 weeks of rehab and I will, hopefully, be back to whatever passes for normal in my world!

just being pizzed off about my daily pain! i would do some chuut'n, but need to mow 1st to be able to gather the brass. no thanks to the fire last year burning my tractor to the ground.........literally! trying every day to distract my mind from the pain my neck is in. long trips such as the 500 mile 1-way drive last monday and the return on friday is killing me literally!................well, most likely shortens my life according to research. make things worse is trying to sleep in a bed as there's no way i'm sleeping on a hotel/motel's floor. i've been sleeping on the floor for almost 10 years now and 5 years prior was the kneeling in front of the couch with my elbows on the cushions while my hands were supporting my head............kinda my way to control some of the pain levels, but hours of that made my knees, wrist and elbows hurt. i feel for those who are in worse off pain that i! decades of over priced doctors with NO solution(s) to my issues. some of the pain areas have gone away due to cervical injections. pain used to go all the way down to my hands, but 3 epidural injections of separate times had it stopping at the elbows. then i had facet injections at 3 different time that stopped the pain at my shoulders. at the 3rd injection times no more decrease in pain happened, so i stopped at 3 and moved on. i've told places that do pain management i'll be your guinea pig and their response was these are proven procedures................i said not on me.........
