Shield Plus owners UNITE!!

Waiting on a call from my LGS (should be today, maybe tomorrrow) to come pick up my new Shield Plus that they ordered for me. Can't wait to get it! But I figure while I wait, are there any current shield owners that can recommend the following?

1. Extended floor plate with pinky support for the 10rd mag - I see Pearse on Amazon, is that any good?
2. Is the new grip texture good enough, or should I throw Talons on it?

I have the Pearce extension and i like it.
No need for talon grips. Try it first before putting them on.
I did swap the factory sights for night sights with a big orange front sight.
I carry it in a IWB Vedder Light Tuck holster.

I own 2 Performance Center Shield+ 4" models (one not ported, other ported w/ CT optic installed). I carry the one with the CT optic and with a 13 round mag in gun, plus two spare 15 rounders. I use a IWB Crossbreed Reckoning holster (no knowledge on the Vedder holster or on the pinky support floor plate) the grip texture on the two are fine for me.

Is that the one in 30 Super Carry??

Personally, I wouldn’t waste money on a pinky support for a 10 rounder… unless you live in a capacity limited state.
I have a shield plus comp carry, just get the 13 rounder, live happily ever after.

Factory grip is more than adequate.. grippy, but won’t bother bare skin.

I’ve tried a few different holsters, and settled on a very little known full Kydex model from Bradec. Solo operator, well made and you can get a wing as well.

Great shooters and lots of fun.

Sorry Silly, I’ll play my reverse Uno card then :)
I used to run pinky extenders on my old M&P c series.
The 10 rounder for my Shield Plus does not fit my hand, zero spot for my pinky..and I tend to rely on my pinky for grip.
I don’t think it’ll need talon. But if I were to put it on, I’d go with the rubberized.

I have the sandpaper/skateboard type tape on a target pistol (X5 Legion) but I wouldn’t dream of that on a carry piece.
Good luck!

No worries!!

I put the sand-paper-y Talons on my Bodyguard 1.0 (made a WORLD of difference! the only CCW I would put it on) but over the weekend I got to shoot a Shield Plus at the range, thanks to some friendly fellow range member. I don't think I'll be modifying the grip at all, but if I ever do, I will definitely go with the rubberized Talons.

Spoke with LGS on Friday, my new Shield Plus should be in tomorrow afternoon! I'm pretty excited about it!

I was never very fond of the micro series, never really found one that fit my XXL hands well.
That changed with the Shield Plus…. I was lucky enough to score mine on a 10 or 15% off discount sale at my LGS.

I easily have north of 500 plus rounds, probably Much more… zero failures of any kind despite feeding it 115, 124 and 147 grain, new, reman, JHP.
I did put a Overwatch trigger in mine as well as polish the striker and trigger bar to “speed up” the break in process.
very smooth, predictable shooter.

I own 4 Shields (2 are the 4") and have no complaints. Can't comment on the pinky extension but don't believe you will need the talons.
For IWB
Black Arch Protos M
Crossbreed Supertuck / Reckoning
Tucker Gunleather DC1
We the People (Simple Kydex)
For OWB
Muddy River
We the People Independence (Leather)
MTR Slimline Deluxe Pancake (Leather)

All of the above will carry your Shield Plus with security and comfort

It's easily the most reliable micro 9 I've ever heard of! Great little guns. I don't trust many striker guns appendix carry pointing at big jim and the twins (coughCOUGHsigP320cough) but I DO trust S&W explicitly. For all their faults, reliability has never been one of them.

Glad to see such a good endorsement from a current owner!
