Does it really matter if we show serial numbers? Unless you have a stolen gun or something, I really don't see the harm in it. Yet everybody seems to do it. I've always done it. Never really questioned it. anyone have any feedback on this? For or against.

Personally, I think this is a non-issue.

At first glance I thought it was an HK. Makes me wonder if Walther is breaking into their factory at night and using their machines.

The PDPs and the VP9s heve practically become the same gun and with HK removing the finger grooves from the VP9A1F and K I’m now giving the ergos edge to Walther. My VP9F is a great shooter, but in comparison my Walthers feel like I’m doing something illegal when I hold them.

Yeah, me too. I usually remember to cover the serial numbers. If I forget, oh well. Besides giving Big Brother another source for your personal information, @Bassbob had a great point about that information being used to scam innocent bystanders. But what's it gonna matter in a hundred years?
