Texas Bans Red-Flag Laws

Good; now maybe the legislature can tackle our freedom of association rights and revoke the silly Silver Alert Law. This is when a senior who has a mental health finding on record with DPS that he/she may cause harm to themselves or others if they go missing from the family (usually in a vehicle) and then LE can devote assets to the search. Admirable, but I have a problem with health professionals entering into the realm of search and rescue. I have seen this law abused right in our own area, with a finding hurriedly ginned up and submitted to LE. This is like back dating a check. We have gotten so used to the collective getting involved in a situation where the poor sap just wants to pack up and leave the old man/lady and I say so what? If they are really that bad off, they shouldn't have a license or access to a vehicle, but apparently the family is OK with it.

AND also people who get in a certain age group should require driving test (not just on paper). Then again there are young and younger people that can't drive worth a crap!
