Top Practical Everyday Carry Items You Need

I wrote this list on another form 10 years ago. It was all the crap I had to carry at work.

Here's the junk I carry at work the vast majority of which is unnecessary away from work (Although extra drawers are always a good idea).

Work EDC:
Barrier device
Non sterile gloves
Hand cuffs
3 hand cuff keys
Radio
OC Spray
M&P 40/ level 2 retention holster
2 reloads
Gerber Multitool
Buck 110
Fenix UC35 flash light
Fenix E12 flash light
About 9 pens (8 of which will disappear into thin air by the end of my shift)
Clip board
MY phone
THIER phone
30 keys that collectively will open every city owned lock in the city and become a MAJOR PITA should I ever lose them.
Ballistic vest

Go bag:
Most important LUNCH
1 pair each
Socks
Boxers
T-Shirt
MY wallet
MY keys
About 20 more pens and at least 1 extra note book.
Garmin
Rain gear
Gaiter
Beanie hat
Fleece (if I'm not wearing it)
Winter gloves
Phone charger
20 more pens and another note book
Aspirin
Company hand book & policy manual.

I really carried all that crap at work but most of it was in a backpack and unless I was doing roving vehicle patrol stayed in my car all night.

So having to carry all that crap around with me at work made what I carry now, which hasn't changed since the last time I posted, not all that much of a hassle.

If I was doing roving vehicle patrol, always in a company vehicle, the backpack sat on the front seat with the keys to my car attached to it so there's no possible way I could forget it at work.

I've said this before. I say it every time this topic comes up but my EDC is all things I've been caught short by not having and it's things that I decided I wasn't ever going to get caught short on again.
The part about the pens disappearing and how many extra pens is funny. But, I believe it.

Regards, Vincent

Gerber 600 multitool; also available in black. Have relied on it for decades, including marine environment for dealing with corrosion/salt seized shackles, stuck items and for medium duty plier/knife/screwdriver purposes. Best feature is one handed opening by flicking the unit (keeping it clean helps) when the other hand is occupied holding a workpiece you dare not let go of. Only drawback is prying; if you use the file it tends to be brittle and break under prying load.
I do not care for the new style belt pouch.

This is typical of my everyday carry. I rotate guns out depending on attire, but stay proficient with my carry guns. I either carry a echelon 4.0C, p365 in different configurations, or a staccato CS. Somedays I carry just a bodyguard 2.0. I almost always carry with a WML, extra mag, small pocket flashlight, multi tool, pocket knife or two,(recently carrying pocket a fixed blade and a small utility knife just for opening things,) wallet, keys, cell, and watch. Somedays are lighter, somedays I carry more. I try to keep a little pokka pen and rite in the rain notepad on me as well.

You know…with my body build/shape, if I carried all that gear, my trousers would fall down. Only solution would be to go to braces/suspenders. My younger brother has, but, while I may be 80, I ain’t gonna wear them!
