Kept waiting for you to swoop in with the mellow base track dubbed in...
No, but John Baker Saunders basslines, while relatively simple, were absolutely brilliantly perfect for the songs on this album. There is some live video of them in a rehearsal space working some of the songs out. It's very cool. McCready is a killer too.

The last band I was in is to my knowledge the only band I know of that covered Mad Season. We did 3 or 4.

It has strange connotations for me since my best friend, the guy who turned me on to this album was shot to death in E. STL. shortly after he gave me a copy. "We're on our own" chokes me up still.

In a way it's also Layne Staley foretelling his own death.

I am a huge Alice n chains fan, I get the connection brother. Layne's vocals are one of a kind.

This is my rig. Mike Starr Signature Spector NS4LX, SVT II Non Pro, same year as Mike’s. I even know his amp settings. I actually had a chance to buy the one he recorded Dirt and Facelift with, but I wasn’t gonna spend $4000 for it. I’ve talked to his sister a couple times, primarily about this bass. She and PJ Rubal finished it up after Mike died. They were only sold in 2015 and they were made to order. There’s approximately 50 in existence. That’s what PJ told me anyway.

To the F'n Bone Bob. Real deal for sho!
It's an amazing sounding rig. When I was down to my last two "Fridges" ( Ampeg 8x10 cabs) I picked this beat to hell cab, made in STL in 2006, over the then new Heritage model which was flawless. It sounds amazing and has mojo. No tolex and look at the stenciling on the grillcloth, which is held on by a pair of drywall screws. ( look on the far left and far right about midway down the cab) ;)
