Well, TBH, recently I have been moving away from both strikers and as much plastic as possible, especially without an option for a manual safety. That’s why my last several guns have been hammer fired (though I will admit the FN Reflex MRD is plastic - but with an internal hammer!). Probably why I finally went the upgrade my all metal, hammer fired, EDC X9 route over a new half plastic Staccato. My remaining three strikers are two Glocks and a Hellcat - all which will eventually go whenever I get around to doing the research on used prices.
 
If I had to rank these three it would be as follows.
Stacatto XC a 10 out of the box.

Staccato XL a 10 out of the box.

SA 1911DS Prodigy Comp 5" an 8.5 after the following mods,

EGW lightened hammer (bi color) ignition kit.(shortened sear, ball head disco)
EGW stainless mainspring housing 20 plus lpi (recommended, Awesome addition).
EGW HD Ambi safety.
Dawson tool less guide rod
8 lb Wolfe recoil spring with extra power firing pin spring. ( this gun loves 115 fmj ).View attachment 92121
17 lb main spring.
Red Dirt #3 Flat faced trigger.
Dawson practical advantage magwell.
Trigger tuned to 2.5 lb.

Do I regret the Prodigy, I do not think I do, it was fun to build up and a pure joy to shoot. I say take a risk, buy what you want, and shoot the shite out of it.

Sure, and you can get an Kia and a whole lot of gas for what a Porsche will cost.

But…in the end, it’s a Kia. Nothing wrong with it…but nowhere near as fun.

Get it I like hammer fired myself. In that case look at the HK P30L OR the USP Expert I. 9 BUT get the LEM Trigger

And since Iptics are the rage if that’s what you want you can order a Langdon Tactical P30L with direct mount optic of your choice or he can mill the USP and still be well under a Staccato!

No…get a Match trigger, and put a GrayGuns trigger on it.

It’s a game changer (as I’ve said many times). Gets rid of the annoying flex that the stock plastic trigger has, and makes it incredibly clean.

When I said Langdon I thought/presumed that was a given . That said The LEM in regular form is night and day difference iver the DA/SA node but the LEM with the gray guns is even better
 
I have the C2 and a Prodigy and while I Like the Prodigy, there is absolutely no comparison. Staccato for the win. When you get into the 2011 market, the Staccato is t even considered expensive. Say what you want about the CZ, it’s not a 1911. And honestly when you have a discussion around the water fountain no one has any strong feelings one way or the other, but Staccato everyone has their thoughts about. The C2 is worth the money.

Well, the EDCx9 headed for the WC mothership today. Took a bit longer because after I got the shipping label from WC (where customer service told me they had a contract with UPS and I could) and then went to ship, I was politely informed by UPS that only an FFL holder can ship a firearm. So had to wait until Tuesday after Labor Day to call WC back and see if I could get shipping refunded. After assuring me I didn’t need an FFL to ship a firearm (both FedEx and UPS websites disagree), he agreed to refund but then asked that if I was still sending in gun would I prefer to apply shipping charge to custom work. Made perfect sense to me.

So took everything to LGS today where they finished boxing it up, took care of transfer stuff, and charged me $125 even ($4.99 cheaper than WC shipping label). They called about an hour later with the UPS tracking number. And they’ll call me in…oh…Jan or Feb or Mar 2026, whenever it comes back from WC, for me to pick up, no additional charge from LGS.
Customer service quoted me 4-6 months backlog, so I’ve already forgotten about it 😂.
 
After buying a Staccato P a little over 2 years ago, I have been gravitating back to hammer fired handguns.

Shortly after buying that P, - (with enablers from this forum) I added a P226 Legion SAO.

Then added a P229 Pro DA/SA - could not warm up to the DA/SA, so sold it.

Added a P229 Legion SAO.

And finally last November added a Staccato C.

The Staccato P is my 1st choice for more full size when I go to the range. Even though I shoot the P226 as well, that one seems to just sit in the safe.

The P229 get as much range time as the P. It is a sweet shooter. FANTASTIC firearm.

I like the feel and size of the Staccato C - compared to the similar sized P229, I just shoot the P229 better.
(Glock 19 sized is perfect - negative is that it does not take the P magazines.) If its between a CS and a C@, I'd probably go C2 for the barrel length- if it was me.

I've been mulling over my next purchase for awhile now. I was looking hard at the CZ shadow 2 compact - but had to remind myself that I did not warm to DA/SA.........

....so 2 days ago I ordered a custom Stealth Arms Platypus. Reviews are all pretty good. Glock 17 magazines. Full customization options for a very decent price.

I could be wrong, but I think I’ve read the CZ “Compact” has a safety so you can carry cocked and locked like a 1911. My “Carry” has a decocker so definitely a first round DA (unless there is time to fully cock the hammer). I’ve never minded either SAO or DA/SA.

You are probably right. I think i was/am just hung up on the "DA/SA" descriptor.

The EDC X9 is just a joy to shoot. I've got the standard and a pair of X9s
