In fact that's why they have such crappy resale value and coincidentally how I got such a good deal on it. Anyway, the torque converter was "Shuddering" a little which is fairly common and can be a number of things. After ruling out tires and driveshafts we concluded it was a TC thing. I'll interject here to mention that getting fluid in this tranny is a drag and the dumbest shite I ever saw. Anyway, a couple tubes of the stop shudder stuff did the trick. A lot of people use it and say they never have another problem, but really I used it as a diagnostic tool. Before I spend $260 on fluid and a filter I wanted to make sure it was a fluid issue and not a TC issue. Replacing the torque converter is probably a $2000 job.

So I am happy. I'll drive it until my buddy has the time and I have the extra cash to do a fluid and filter change on the tranny. Now I can concentrate on getting some hardware installed for gun totin'.

and...depending on the year, and mileage and condition of the trans fluid.......a trans overhaul may be recommended.

if that happens, tell them you want your transmission rebuilt, not someone else's.


unless that's what you meant when you said a "$2,000 job".....

been decades since i priced out any repairs.

$1500 - $2000 is what it would cost for me and my buddy to replace the torque converter. I don't know what it would cost to buy a reconditioned transmission, new transmission or to have that one rebuilt, but I guarantee it is a lot more than that.

Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case. My buddy could tell by the fluid that it has been serviced before. How long before is anyone's guess. The thing with the torque converters on these cars is well known. It could also have been the torque converter clutch. The fact that the friction fortifying lube we put in stopped the problem indicates it is a fluid problem, not a torque converter problem.

Just checking out yard after all the rain we had earlier. Boy we really needed the water. Looks like it will rain again tonight then back into the 80's again tomorrow. Grass is perking up and should look great for a few weeks before it dies for the winter. It has really been a long hot summer here.
 
Shot the P30L today and it’s love with an asterisk 😂. it shoots super smooth and it feels incredible in the hand, but the trigger is very different and will take some training to get used to. it’s the LEM trigger and so far with the little time I’ve been shooting I haven’t had anything with that long light take up. Will be a staple in range bag for a while because I really do enjoy that mofo

Then shot my 226 reserve and while i was on the fence thinking of selling, after shooting it heck no! It’s a bit pricy but man it is a secsay looking and shooting pistol!
