I found it fascinating. Particularly the Romanov Dynasty, but also the 500 years that proceeded it. The Soviet era never interested me too much, though I did have to learn about it.

My problem in college was I focused soley on things that interested me. History, English comp and sociology. Unfortunately I blew off advanced math classes which hurt me in the long run and kept me from getting my bachelors. I mean I could go back. It'd only take me 2 full load semesters, but the fact is I make more money than most of the people with bachelors degrees.

I made the mistake of following a typical “track” and ended up in a bunch of classes that didn’t interest me. I didn’t do poorly with grades but just had zero interest. Ended up at Devry and absolutely loved it! When i was in high school Devry was spoken as “plan b”, but in hindsight i should have went that route in the EE program. Technician program i went through was great, but it was in this strange limbo where it’s more credit than AA but less than BS. At this point with 25 years experience in radiation therapy, it’s not really a requirement anymore.

And South Side of the Sky, Starship Troopers, Heart of the Sunrise, Going For the One. All those classic lineup Yes albums. Basically everything before 90213 or whatever it was with Owner of a Lonely Heart. When Steve Howe quit and Trevor Rabin took over guitars. Chris was using the Ric exclusively. Usually in Ric-o-Sound, which means one pickup routed to a massive bass amp and one went to a Marshall stack. He also used a pick, but like me he used it in a hybrid fashion. Letting the meat of his thumb strike the string a milisecond after the pick. I was copping Chris's tone before I ever heard Yes or knew who he was.

Geddy, a true superstar. What a privilage to grow with the music we were surrounded with. I am a huge SRV & DOUBLE TROUBLE fan. Tommy Shannon could sling that base line better than most in the blues ring.
