Best 9mm Revolver: Everyday Carry Options

Far from outdated, the revolver is tried-and-true. Even so, the handgun has remained relevant to modern shooters, evolving into more useful and convenient forms. Next to light alloy frames and hammerless designs, one adaptation gaining favor presently is the 9mm revolver.

Hi,

I've been thinking about a 9mm revolver just so I wouldn't have to stock another caliber of ammo. Am I being lazy? But I'd want a larger sidearm with a 4" - 6" barrel. Guess I'll have to save up some more gig money. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

I've never understood the attraction of revolvers in semi-auto calibers. Yeah, 9mm is cheaper than most revolver cartridges, but you gotta fuss with moon clips and you have much lower capacity. There are so many good semi-auto 9mms out there, why bother?
The only exception being my S&W 25-2 in .45acp. These were built to be target pistols and all I shoot in mine are 200gr LSWC target loads. For this purpose, its outstanding!

I have a Rock Island AL9.0 (blued). I think there is a stainless version.

Very similar to a S&W K-frame.

Shoots well. Made in the Czech Republic.

I also have an AL22 in .22lr which is the same size.

I would tend to agree just because semi-autos are so practical. But I've got a few "practical" pistols. I'd like something else just for the pure fun of it. I think it would make a good addition to my "one of each" collection. ;)

Don’t forget, you’ll need to use moon clips like you do on a 10mm…just sayin

That's why I would only trade all my autos for 357,41 mag and 44 mag. that way I wouldn't be wasting all that other stuff spraying and need moon clips. I would keep one of my 1911s but my old hands will still work great with good old speed strips. To many broken bones knife wounds and arthritis and mags plus racking so I would like finishing out my last year's as a wheel man

I would like to look at the Charter Arms in 9mm.
I currently use a S&W Model 36 and the ammo around here is either too expensive or non-existent, where the Charter Arms does not use moon clips and the ammo is plentiful and cheaper.

Back when I did a lot of reloading and went to the tire store and got the old lead weights they would throw away kept my Dillion press busy. It seems today the autos fill the air with a lot of ammo. Our ammo was not suppied and reloads were what we used to stay in tune. We tried to do our range time with one other officer at least. Our wage was small compared to what other types of work were paying and that's the way things were
