Revolver Renaissance: Bold, Reliable & Overlooked

Never been away anywhere for me.

Carried one for hunting for going on 40 years or more. One was part of my Concealed carry from day one.

I bought my first revolver in 1980 a Taurus 66 .357 magnum. It was/is used for Hunting and HD. Switched back to it for hunting after selling my .44a.

Preaching to the choir, here (it’s Sunday so pun intended!)

I have always loved revolvers, even though the first handgun I ever shot was my fathers Ruger Mk I 22LR.

There is just something about them that appeals to my soul. I could never see myself without some in my collection.

Thanks for sharing!

I was introduced to a revolver when I was 12,it was a 45 LC, Grandpa said when you and your Spitz dog go out in the woods take it with you and that was the way it was in the high country. I still have a 45 LC but this one is double action.

60 years ago for a left hander like me autoloaders that had ambidextrous controls didn't seem to exist.
So, I bought and shot revolvers.
I did learn how to move the 1911 safety off by sweeping around the back of the slide with my left thumb, and my trigger finger dropped the empty magazine. So besides revolvers I've always had at least one 1911A1.

Fast forward to today I own a bunch of guns, and at age 77 I'm not too very quick to buy any more.
Although I FINALLY got on the 9MM bandwagon a few months ago with a Taurus G3C, even with its right hand only safety.

My latest acquisition, just last week, was a new farm carry. A Charter Arms Pathfinder snub nose 22WMR. I had been carrying 22LR but decided to up the power factor just a tad.

First handgun was a Ruger Security Six. Have owned many semi-auto pistols, but none of them are as much fun to shoot as a wheel gun.

Maybe it's the pseudo macho concept of controlling the beast. Maybe it's the hidden Dirty Harry in us, but they scratch the urge for power in a handgun no semi-auto can match. When you drop the hammer on a magnum load, you understand how much fury you have at your disposal.

Holding a revolver in your hand, you feel a little like a gunfighter of old. Nostalgia, coupled with a bit of imagination, gives you the chance to relate to many of the storied shootists of history, real or fictional.

I love 'em because they look like a gun. Love how perfectly balanced they feel in your hand. Love the tactile sensation of shoving cartridges into the gun. Love the recoil impulse. Love shooting them double action while people look at me as though I am performing witchcraft.

Yeah, I'm a fan. Glad that others are finding out how awesome they are. Just wish they weren't quite so pricey, but I understand why they are.

Yea, very glad there making a big comeback, plus today you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get a quality revolver, I picked up a Rossi RM-66 in .357 this summer, very pleased how it shoots plus the quality build, there actually made by Taurus, but to different specifications, this gun is definitely a keeper…..

well, i can attest to the Ruger GP 100, in .357 / 38 special..

i have the 2.5" barrel and either shooting 357 mags, or 38 specials, it is a smooth operator.

That's a classic, been looking at that one too. I haven't decided between double or single action but I do want a 5" or 6" barrel. I was just window shopping a S&W 686 Plus, 7 shot L-frame. But it'll be a few weeks yet, still saving my gig money. Maybe a Christmas present to myself? Thanks for your recommendation. I like the grips on that Vaq.

The S&W 686 is a good revolver, I just don’t care for there rifling process they use now, EDM, kinda looks like polygonal rifling. They stopped using conventional lands and grooves, my 610 and 625 both have this EDM, I rather have the old way, Ruger, Colt and Taurus still use conventional rifling, but it is what it is.

That's a nice one. Yes, I'm shopping for the .357/.38 platform. But I can't hit anything with a barrel that sort.
