I don't know which route you're taking to get to Casper, but I imagine you'll be on I-80 going across the bottom.

That being said, a more direct & shorter route to Casper is getting off of I-80 at Rawlins, then taking Hwy 287 up to Muddy Gap/Three folks then stay to the right on to Hwy 220 which will take you straight to Casper (the backdoor).

Hwys 287/220 are good 2-lane high-speed roads on flat/rolling ground.

Much shorter & quicker than staying on I-80 to Cheyenne then north on I-25 = the long way.

Actually, I think that is the route that we’re taking. He mentioned possibly stopping in Rawlins for the night. We got a late start out of Nellis and that’s about 10 hours. Then it’s a 12 hour drive home from there.
