The Night Rider
Professional
I seem to have incredibly bad luck in this area.
I met one of my neighbors today. We talked a little he told me the Donkey's name is Loretta.
We talked a little about livestock so maybe I gave him the opening.
A few days ago something took out a bunch of my granddaughter's chickens. I mentioned that her security camera caught what she thinks is a fox attacking them.
The neighbor told me there is a coyote and a fox living on the property South of us and specifically asked me to shoot the coyote on sight (assuming I had a gun). So maybe that brought it up.
But a minute later he informed me that he always carried a handgun (It looked like a J Frame) and lifted his hoodie to show me.
He also informed me that he did not have a concealed handgun permit (I couldn't care less).
At that point I let him know that I do carry (I didn't NOT tell him the coyote is going to have to seriously provoke me before I shoot it) and that I was armed.
He wasn't the first one. When I was working I was checking a low income housing unit and one of the tenants looked out his door to see what he heard in the hall and went out of his way to inform me that he was armed and "keeping an eye" on the building when I wasn't there.
One night many, many decades ago I was delivering Pizza and ran into a security guard who went out of his way to let me know (and show me) he had a shotgun in his back seat.
And the female coworker who felt the need to show me her Kimber 1911(That she wasn't supposed to have) when I relieved her one night.
What is it about people that they feel the need to display their firearm to random strangers?
Does this happen to you guys or am I just "That Guy"?
