I was in Beriut in 58 with a lot of friends when they called for help. Family members of some of my friends were victims of that day.😢

NEver forget who our enemies are, dating back to the Barbary Pirates
The phrase "to the shores of Tripoli" in the U.S. Marine Corps Hymn refers to the First Barbary War (1801–1805), specifically the Battle of Derna in 1805. During this conflict, the United States fought against the Barbary States (including Tripoli, a city in present-day Libya) to combat piracy in the Mediterranean. A group of Marines, led by Lieutenant Presley O'Bannon, joined a small force under William Eaton to capture Derna, marking a key victory.
