Winchester White box

Shot a ton of it in several different calibers. Not had any trouble from it. The dirtiest and worst ammo was the old tula and wolf steel case.
Now that stuff was filthy and never shoot it through a suppressor. Especially the rifle loads that have that silver painted bullet. It will leave melted lead deposits all in the baffles and more or less welds it to them.

We’ve had some issues with a few lots of the Covid era Winchester White box. At 25 yards, seated and bench rested with a suppressed Sig M-400 11.5, good trigger and Eotech it was printing groups the size of my hand. Got concerned bought a box of 55 grain Hornady Frontier and it went to the size of a dime. Had some other guys shoot the Winchester white box, same lot, same issues. Some of my guys shot different lot number and it was not as bad
Mine was COVID era too, the best way to determine that is if the primers are multiple colors.

This is the only Winchester ammo that sees the light of day in my guns and it is fantastic. I shoot this almost exclusively.

For 9MM I’m sticking with these 2 brands (ammo Inc and freedom). For .40 I’ll even run Federal American Eagle 165G (which is actually cheaper than the Winchester white box where I buy some of my ammo). I used to pick up browning 100 round box till it sunk in that I’m just paying extra for Winchester ammo and the Winchester red box was a joke when I shot (or tried it).

Another fan of Winchester white box, but the hot tip right now is Federal has 45 ACP 230 grain FLATnose ammo on the menu. Way better stopper than traditional hardball, but shoots the same point of impact. Hey, if I am buying 230 grain practice ammo anyway but I can get some that is actually better in a defensive application, I would be crazy not to do so! UPC 2089222661.

I wonder how much of the ammo is still out there. Also how much are they behind due to Covid.
I think ammo made during the late winter/early spring 2020 was still OK but after that things started going south on everything due to the shutdowns & reduced work force.

I think the biggest impact was the slight panic due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but the down-turn in the economy sort-of diminished that aside from foreign imports in mil-calibers that started going in that direction.

In general, I think production has bounced back to normal by the latter part of 2024.

I'm not seeing any shortages in my area, and online sources, except where .357 mag ammo is in short-supply, oddly.

The industry is down now due to POTUS 47's election, and the lingering economic after-effects of the POTUS 46 admin.

My .02

Good points just kinda wish there were more options of firearms. Some places I been going to seem a little bare. Yes I have my favorite brands but like to touchy feely (yes I’m one of those types).
