I see a few issues there. 1 you're carrying not in your house so that's an issue right there. Did she have a ccw if not that's gonna probably be a problem. Now I get the defending yourself part but man.. She's open to charges AND a lawsuit. Just saying.... Not that I'm crying about some dirtbag getting plugged but you gotta be smart.

not sure what OK gun laws are about needing a ccw or not.

This issue comes up in a convenience store somewhere in the U.S. at least once a year.

When I was stationed in California in the 70's, officers referred to convenience stores along the freeway as "stop and robs". The name stuck with me.

I long for the days when robbery squads put officers with 870's in the back room of convenience stores. Like a hunting blind, now we wait. I recall some armed robbers being rehabilitated in this manner, never to offend again.

I decided to stay out of convience stores in the early 2000s. I was in a Shell station on Academy and Maizeland in Colorado Springs and a homeless crackhead (but I repeat myself) walked in and started walking around opening and closing an auto assist knife.

I finished my transaction and left and decided I was never going inside a convenience store again and I didn't until I started working as a security guard.

I remember my first night working as a roving guard in Colorado Springs. Around 3AM or so my trainer stopped for gas in the company car. He decided to go in and get a soda. I went with him but I remember thinking about what I would do if I walked in on a robbery in progress.

After that night I never walked into a convenience store at work again unless the receipt dispenser at the gas pump wasn't working and I had to go into the store and get one.

One of my Coworkers actually walked in on a robbery in progress one night in his G4S uniform.

As soon as he walked through the door the clerk yelled "You're a cop do something!!!" and put my coworker right in the middle of a gunfight that he was not ready for.

The coworker actually survived and if I remember right he shot one of the robbers.

I also remember my coworker telling that story right in front of the supervisor and the supervisor did not contradict him so I have no reason to doubt that it happened.

Bottom line I don't go into convenience stores.

Yeah scary stuff... I worked retail for years before I went into corporate security. It seemed to have gradually gotten to the point where bad guys have 0 fear anymore. They know most companies won't allow employees to defend themselves and cops won't do anything but write a ticket if they even make it in time to do anything at all. I also see a lot of employees who have 0 survival skills. Would I trust some minimum wage retard to carry a gun in a store I owned? Probably not.... Is my head on a swivel anytime I'm outside? Absolutely. This isn't our granddad's America anymore sadly

I try too always only fuel up at the same station every time, and in broad daylight. I pay at the pump. If for some reason the pump isn't working correctly, I move to a different pump. If none of the pumps are working, I drive off to a secondary station that I trust. I've been doing this for years and have never stepped foot in either station. On the rare occasion my wife and I travel out of our area, I try to stop at bigger, busier truck stops. Sometimes my wife will need to use the restroom, so I am picky about where we stop. And we are both legally armed.

In 1979 I had to go to Farmers and Merchants Bank in Meridian Idaho, I had been in the back country. I entered the bank and 2 guys with masks were standing at the counter so I reached for my shoulder holster for my 41 when a guy yelled cut, everything stopped and another officer ask for a ID while they had hands on there weapons. I was immediately cleared and was told they were filming the movie Bronko Billy and I would have to wait till the next day to do my transactions. Got a couple of autographs and went on my way. You never know when things can happen.

True. But you wouldn't let your wife use a restroom when she needs one during your travels? I don't pull into the "hood" to fuel up, and if the wife and I have to travel, I try to stop where I think it is the safest. Some trips are inevitable and necessary. You can't stay holed up in a cave forever. Well, maybe you can, but not me. Nor would I want too.
