Ford takes 19.5 Billion charge on EV positions

We here in West Tennessee have been watching Blue Oval City carefully. It means a whole lot of jobs for the area. At first we were thrilled. But when it was announced that they would be building electric trucks, the caution flags went up. Frankly, folks around here consider an electric pick-up as an abomination. Nobody I know would even consider buying one.
It appears now that Ford has had a falling out with the South Korean battery maker SK who was a big part of this plan and would have had their own factory at Blue Oval City.
The news that Ford will now build gas powered trucks there is actually encouraging to us. (y)

i had seen a pretty darned good video on the power and lack of battery charge on a Ford pick up, pulling a trailer...

dismal performance.

maybe a hybrid, instead of a full blown electric.

there is alot more than meets the eye
the new lighting or may change the name will have on board generator powered by an ICE engine
plus ford is going to build items similar to the tesla wall power thing that can run your house
they split some with the SK company as they each get a building???
For those who aren’t familiar with EREVs, this isn't a traditional plug-in hybrid. This is an electric vehicle with an on-board generator. It’s designed to give you the electric capability you enjoy around town, but with the range and towing confidence of a gas truck when you’re hauling a boat or camper. It will be assembled right here in Dearborn at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.

gm is sitting on hundreds if not much more of EV pickups and hummers
no one wants them

the hybrid ev with the on board charger is the best route
plus fords new truck structure is supposed to be pushing a superduty f250 to f450 with similar powerboost tech like we have now on the powerboost f150,

Personally after owning 2 Toyota hybrids. I’m done with them. After a certain point the hybrid system goes bad and the costs to is insane. Yes my Prius was wonderful while it worked but that left me stranded after work one night. Yes I used to commute a lot towards Chicago but now I don’t do what I used too. I’m staying away from the whole thing till I can and keep my VW.

Gas or diesel is the best route. EV/Hybrids long term are expensive to maintain, heavier vehicles, among other things. Politicians blowing smoke for ages.
Lets not get started on what it takes to mine minerals for a battery let alone dispose of them. No better for the environment than fossil fuels.
Daughter had a Honda hybrid with on board generator for a rental. POS.

God bless those that go EV. Lets talk in 5-8yrs

I'm sure that one day we'll all be driving electric vehicles. But not anytime soon. The technology just ain't there yet. I kinda doubt I'll still be around to see it.
